Stories & Songs: an evening with David Bulley, Peter Nabut, & Tobi Benay

Novelist, and prize-winning poet, accomplished storyteller, and songwriter, David Bulley brings passion, good humor, and raucous insight to people whenever he can. David has told stories at Best of Valley Voices ( Academy of Music ), Stories from the Stage, and Storypalooza. He has performed solo or with The Dave Bulley band at many western mass venues that host live music, as well as performing at Early Apple fest, in Shutesbury and Mud Season! In Turners Falls.

Peter Nabut is known as a songwriter’s songwriter. His astonishing emotional range and complexity is buoyed by an exquisite craft so that hearing a Nabut original for the first time seems like it couldn’t be possible that this was the first time. Each song in a stunning catalog instantly becomes an old favorite. Each new old favorite stands outside of time; if you did not know he wrote it, you might think it was written 50 years ago, or 100, or 200. Or tomorrow. Peter has been a professional sound person for a very long time, which means he probably has a story about your favorite artist from backstage.

The daughter of a painter and a journalist, Tobi Benay grew up in a world ripe with creativity. She began writing songs in the 1980’s in a folk style, and music continues to be her passion and her steadfast companion. Her songs combine a variety of rhythms with lyrics that speak to her life experience, the people and places she has known and more! Everything she writes is true…almost!
