OFF THE COMMON – A Free Summer Concert Series July Edition

Artist Lineup: All Female Showcase- Madison McFerrin, Kimaya Diggs, Kendra McKinley, Daisy Skelton

Our headlining artist for July is Madison McFerrin – Madison McFerrin, an independent artist and musician, has built a distinctive solo career with three self-produced EPs and acclaimed performances worldwide. Her music blends R&B, pop, soul, and jazz through intricate a capella and self-harmonizing, earning praise like “soul-appella” from Questlove and recognition for “effortless warm harmonies” from The FADER. Madison explores themes of inner liberation and self-care in her music, drawing from influences like Stevie Wonder and Erykah Badu. She curates and performs at venues such as C’mon Everybody and the BRIC Jazz Festival, championing diversity and community in her artistic endeavors. Her work reflects a commitment to authentic expression and fostering possibility through artistry and community engagement.

Kimaya Diggs, a versatile musician and storyteller from Western Massachusetts, crafts her world through music and writing. From her early one-woman shows to earning a Callaloo fellowship for poetry, her journey spans fiction, songwriting, and a career as a speechwriter. Kimaya’s music, recognized with a New England Music Awards nod, resonates at venues like Club Passim and festivals such as Green River Festival and the Emily Dickinson festival. Her debut album, “Breastfed,” reflects on her mother’s illness and passing, marking a pivotal moment in her songwriting journey. Her latest work, named after her dog Quincy, explores themes of love and loss with heartfelt sincerity. Raised surrounded by music in Western Massachusetts, Kimaya blends her diverse influences into heartfelt storytelling, connecting deeply with her audience through honesty and emotional depth.

Kendra McKinley paints on her clothes and makes music for smoking weed with your bra off. A conduit of connection with a voice that sounds like tuned honey. Her music braids sensuality, levity and polish. Whether she’s casting spells with her looping pedal or fronting a dynamic band, her live show is an invitation to swerve and swoon to her yummy grooves. An incantation to bloom, on loop.

Based in New York, Daisy Skelton has been singing professionally for seven years. Under the tutelage of NY live music legend Toni Menage, she has found a home on hundreds of stages from Radio City Music Hall to the historic Billie’s Black as a mainstay in Project Orange Music. Daisy is known to be a consummate performer with a smokey vocal tone and fire cracker spirit. She’s currently in her second year on tour singing BGV for Lisa Lisa.
