Ali McGuirk w/ The Mary Jane Jones at Hawks and Reed

Ali McGuirk commands the room with her dynamic voice and heartfelt songwriting. Blending classic soul power with a folk songwriter lyricism, Ali has the rare ability to silence a room with just a few words of a song. With a vocal style rooted in improvisation, her sets are a hypnotic and intimate emotional journey.

Her debut album, Slow Burn earned her recognition as one of New England’s most compelling artists and Ali has been bringing her music to national audiences ever since, leading her award winning band, serenading solo with her electric guitar and finding inspiration in unexpected, genre bending collaborations.

Her latest single “That’s the Way I Feel About You” by Bobby Womack is out now on Signature Sounds, to benefit the Sweet Relief Musicians’ Fund. Listen anywhere you stream.

“A vocal powerhouse and smart songwriter.” The Boston Herald

“Powerfully stunning vocals” Glide Magazine

“One of the most exciting musicians and singers in the city [of Boston].” Provincetown Magazine

“The critical praise has been non-stop… and her sound has evolved into a fervent blend of R&B, folk, and classic soul. But she doesn’t let genre get in the way of her creative process.” WGBH

The Mary Jane Jones

A multi-genre band with an edgy retro vibe, this 8-member syndicate performs with a chemistry and swagger reserved for old friends and superheroes. The Western Mass band has opened for national acts including NRBQ, Fishbone, The Squirrel Nut Zippers, Seth Glier, Marcia Ball, The Alexis P. Suter Band, and comic/actor Donnell Rawllings (Chappelle’s Show, The Wire.) Influenced by artists like Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Aretha Franklin, and James Brown, The Mary Jane Jones honors the legacy of jazz, blues, rock, and soul with passion and respect.

The band spent their recent downtime recording with in-house engineer/bassist, Chris Ball, at his Fun Room Studio in Greenfield, MA, releasing singles while working toward their first full-length record together. Their latest single, No Good For You, is available on all platforms.

“What began as a modest jazz-inspired outfit has become a tight act geared toward serious dancing, incorporating soul, R&B, funk, rock and a full horn section for extra punch.” Ken Maiuri’s Clubland, Daily Hampshire Gazette

“A guaranteed good time.” Sheryl Hunter, The Greenfield Recorder

“The MJJ’s visibility is largely due to the fact that they kill it onstage and because they don’t shy away from weighing in on issues in the Valley and beyond.” Amanda Drane, The Valley Advocate

“If you’ve never seen The Mary Jane Jones’ live performance before, now would be the time. The band features a heavy horn section, virtuoso guitar playing, and one of the best vocalists in the Pioneer Valley – Mandy Pachios – who sings with a jazz and blues flair that’s electrifying and resonates in your soul.” Chris Goudreau, The Valley Advocate
